How do we design our cake?

When it comes to your wedding cake, you might have all the ideas and the ultimate vision, which makes the design process pretty straight forward!

But what happens if you don't have a clue?

I'm here to help you out with anything cake-related! There are lots of things we can draw inspiration from to design your perfect cake, and I'll be able to pull together plenty of ideas for you to choose from.

Here are a few things that we can use as inspiration:

1. Your wedding dress

Your wedding dress says a lot about your style and personality, so it only seems right that it could also inspire your wedding cake!

If your dress has lace details or overlay, I can pipe a matching design onto part of your cake - maybe cascading down the tiers, or over one complete tier.

If your dress has a specific pattern, that can be matched on your cake - the world is your oyster here!

2. Your venue decor & colour scheme

If you're going for a rustic, country wedding style, let's think about a semi-naked cake, or a design with lots of flowers and countryside vibes.

If you're going for old school glam, let's go for tall tiers with sharp edges and delicate detailing.

If you're a boho bride, we'll add all the dried flowers and muted tones, or all the brights!

3. Your flowers

Your choice of blooms can make a huge difference in cake design - we’ll think about whether you want them to blend in beautifully with your cake, or whether you want them to stand out boldly against the cake, or maybe you don’t want flowers on your cake at all!

4. Your invitations

Invitations can be absolute works of art, and a perfect place to look for inspiration for your cake. Flowers: Untamed Floral Art

They normally have at least some link to your theme as well, so what a great place to start!

You might have a design or pattern in your invitations that I can recreate on tiers of your cake; you might have had a personalised monogram made as a stamp or wax seal for your invitations that I can add to the middle tier; it might be something to do with the fabrics, papers, materials that you’ve chosen your invitations to be made of - this is a great opportunity for inspiration!

5. Your jewellery

If you’re wearing pearls, let’s stud a tier with beautiful pearl sprinkles.

If you’re wearing gold, let’s crack out the edible gold leaf.

If your jewellery is your something old, and classic vintage, let’s theme your cake around that!

Happy wedding planning!
